This is the most popular place in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. The bay is an area of relatively flat water because of the jetties to the southeast. The wind is gusty and shifts when it feels like it. When from the south, you have to sail out about 200 feet to find the wind line. Intermediate and advanced sailors like to go \'outside\' - past the jetties where the swells are pretty big and the best bump & jump action can be found. Sometimes the wind is actually better outside. This is a popular place for beginners to learn. North Texas Wind Riders holds a couple of Learn to Windsurf events a year here. The beach has become increasingly crowded despite swimming being banned here. This is an alcohol free beach - that much is enforced by the local police (well sorta).
